Our Company

Richard Andres joined Perin Company in 1985 as a service manager, but quickly moved up serving as general manager and eventually vice president. On April 2, 1997, he became part of history when he purchased Perin Company through Toyota Industrial Equipment's (TIE) Dealer Assistance Program. The company, headquartered in Hayward, California now operates as Toyota Material Handling Northern California (TMHNC).

"I am thrilled to be at the helm of a 86-year-old Northern California material handling tradition, and to be working with the great team of people at TMHNC," said company owner & CEO Andres. "Without them, we wouldn't be where we are today".

Perin Company, founded in 1921, was the second-oldest TIE dealership in the United States. It began selling Toyota forklifts in 1968, one year after TIE introduced its product offering to the U.S. market.

In the mid-1990s, both of Andres’s sons, Mark and Stephen, joined the company, working their way up the ranks to their current executive positions. Currently Mark is the Vice President of Sales, while Stephen is the Vice President of Operations. The Material Handling Equipment Distributors Association (MHEDA) recently recognized both brothers as young leaders in their industry for their roles in helping TMHNC grow to record setting levels each year. Read more about Mark and Stephen here.

Over the past 10 years, TMHNC has not only grown by leaps and bounds, but has been recognized as a leader in the material handling industry by receiving Toyota's highest honor - - the Toyota Presidents Award -- nine consecutive times. The Presidents Award is the most prestigious honor bestowed upon Toyota lift truck dealers. It demonstrates excellence in every facet of dealership operations, including customer service, sales, parts and repair.

"The whole dealership pulling together is the key," says Andres. "If you win, it means you're performing up to the standards customers expect, but you can't let up."

In the past 10 years, TMHNC has never let up. TMH now has five locations - Hayward, Salinas, West Sacramento, Fresno and Rohnert Park - staffed by over 241 full-time employees including 114 factory trained shop & road technicians. TMHNC prides itself on providing a total material handling solution to its customers.
